This add-on for Broadcast adds support for Frédéric Demarle’s Polylang translation plugin.

When activated, the plugin will copy over the post’s translation information to the child blogs.

If the post is a translation of another post that already exists on the child blog, a translation link will be created.

Broadcasted terms also retain their translation links between each other.

Notes

When broadcasting a post to a child blog that does not have the selected language, the default action is to not broadcast to the blog. This action can be changed in the Polylang Broadcast settings to broadcast the post to the child anyways, but without any taxonomies at all. This is due to the fact that the post comes with “translated” taxonomies that should not exist on the child blog at all.

Polylang stores its language link data in a taxonomy called “language”, for each respective post type. Do not sync this taxonomy manually using the Sync Taxonomies add-on or you will lose the link data, forcing you to rebroadcast your posts.

Tested with

Version 2.1.5 and Polylang Pro v2.2.6.

  1. Hi

“When broadcasting a post to a child blog that does not have the selected language, the default action is to not broadcast to the blog. This action can be changed in the Polylang Broadcast settings to broadcast the post to the child anyways, but without any taxonomies at all. ”

Is there any option to broadcast the taxonomies and tag to child blog even if the child blog didn’t have the selected language?

    1. No, since the taxonomies will not be in the correct language for the blog.

I suppose this could be overridden, but I don’t see why. Send me an e-mail with details and maybe your problem could be solved in other ways?

  2. I am trying to figure out how to have a news page from our main site in english broadcast to our english news page on our subsite (this works no problem) AND the linked Italian news page on the same site using polylang. I can’t seem to connect two pages on one site to the same main broadcasted page.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    1. Broadcasting the italian page is done the same way as the english page: edit the IT page, select the subsite and then publish / broadcast. Does it not work that way? In that case, please send me a debug text of the italian post in question so I can look at what Broadcast is doing.
